Privacy & terms

How we handle your data and what you agree to.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Our Commitment

Privacy first is the only way forward. TuneFirst gives you full control over your data and what's visible to others. We believe your musical identity belongs to you, and we're committed to protecting it.

What We Collect

We collect only what's necessary to connect you with your music people:

  • Profile Information: Name, photos, city (optional), and your date of birth (others only ever see your age, and you can hide that too)
  • Music Data: Artists, albums, and Tunes you manually add to your profile, never imported automatically
  • Usage Data: How you interact with the app to improve your experience and our matching
  • Messages: Chats and mixtape collaborations with your connections
  • Device Information: Basic device data for security and compatibility

What We Don't Collect

We're proud of what we don't do:

  • We don't import your streaming history without explicit permission
  • We don't sell your data to third parties, ever
  • We don't share your precise location, only city-level if you choose
  • We don't track you across other websites or apps
  • We don't use your data for targeted advertising

Your Control

You decide what's visible. Privacy settings let you:

  • Hide your city/location entirely from your profile
  • Keep your top artists, albums, and Tunes private
  • Choose who sees each part of your profile, and each review and show; only people you have connected with can message you
  • Block users who you don't want to interact with
  • Get a copy of your data at any time: email support@tunefirst.com and we will send it to you
  • Delete your account and all data permanently whenever you choose

Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption and security practices to protect your data. Your information is stored securely using enterprise-grade infrastructure and accessed only when necessary to provide our services. We regularly audit our security practices and respond promptly to any potential vulnerabilities.

Third-Party Services

We integrate with select third-party services to enhance your experience:

  • Supabase: Database, sign-in and file storage
  • Vercel: Hosting of TuneFirst and this website, with anonymous, aggregated performance and visit statistics
  • Spotify: The music catalogue, artwork and player for everyone; if you choose to connect your own Spotify account, only what you explicitly authorize (playlist export and your top artists for recommendations)
  • Last.fm: Similar-artist data for recommendations
  • Ticketmaster: Tour dates for the artists in your collection
  • Google: Sign in with Google, if you choose it, and city search when you enter a place
  • Resend: Delivery of the emails you ask for
  • Pexels: Stock photos you can pick as a cover image

TuneFirst is free and does not currently take payments, so no payment provider receives your data.

We carefully vet all third-party services and only share the minimum data necessary.

Changes to Privacy Policy

We'll notify you of any material changes to this policy via email or in-app notification. Continued use of TuneFirst after changes constitutes acceptance. We'll never make changes that reduce your privacy protections without explicit consent.

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using TuneFirst, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. You must be 18 or older to create an account. If you don't agree with any part of these terms, please don't use the service. We want TuneFirst to be a positive space for everyone.

User Conduct

TuneFirst is built for music lovers to connect genuinely. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about yourself
  • Treat other users with respect and kindness
  • Not harass, spam, or abuse other users or the platform
  • Not impersonate others or create fake profiles
  • Not use the service for illegal purposes or commercial solicitation
  • Not attempt to circumvent security measures or access others' accounts
  • Report inappropriate behavior when you see it

Content Ownership

Your content remains yours:

  • You own your profile content, messages, reviews, and mixtapes
  • You grant TuneFirst a license to display and process your content to provide the service
  • Music metadata (artist names, album titles, Tune titles) belongs to respective rights holders
  • You can delete your content at any time

Demo Profiles

Some profiles on TuneFirst are demo profiles. We created them so the service would not be empty at launch. They are marked Demo, their music, reviews, shows and mixtapes are illustrative, and there is no real person behind them. You cannot connect with a demo profile or send it a request.

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in harassment, or negatively impact the community. We'll try to warn you first except in serious cases. You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Leave > Delete your account; we email you a confirmation code first. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. A few things remain by design: a person you talked with keeps your conversation, shown as coming from a deleted account; your username is held for 30 days before anyone else can take it; and moderation reports made by you or about you are kept in an archive.

Disclaimers

TuneFirst is provided "as is" without warranties. While we work hard to create a great experience, we're not responsible for:

  • User-generated content (reviews, messages, profiles)
  • Third-party service availability (Spotify integration, etc.)
  • Interactions between users outside our platform
  • Temporary service interruptions or bugs

Limitation of Liability

TuneFirst's liability is limited to the amount you've paid us (if any) in the past 12 months. We're not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms as TuneFirst evolves. We'll notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes means acceptance of updated terms. Major changes will include a summary of what's different.
